Hi Laura!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited to “sea” that you will soon be going on your FIRST Disney Cruise Line vacation! You have chosen a FANTASTic itinerary and will get to do and see so much on your adventure with Captain Mickey.
In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with any room onboard a Disney Cruise ship, because any room onboard is better than NOT being on vacation! But, aside from that I can say this – when you go to Castaway Cay, the ship will usually (always at the discretion of the Captain) dock with the starboard side facing
Castaway Cay giving you a wonderful view of the beach! When you visit Grand Cayman, you will have to tender to the port terminal so either side of the ship will give you a wonderful view. As far as choosing a midship stateroom, that is always a good idea because you will have convenient access to the many different venues onboard.
Your children are at the perfect age to thoroughly enjoy everything that a Disney Cruise Line vacation has to offer. My recommendation is always to go with an open mind and ready to tackle the many activities onboard but be prepared that you may not get to it all. Book complimentary character breakfast and character gatherings when your Online activity booking window opens as those tickets are harder to come by once onboard. The live action “Disney's Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is not to be missed and neither is the chocolate souffle from
Palo.
And my number one recommendation – take advantage of the onboard specials for booking your NEXT Disney Cruise. Then when your time onboard comes to an end you can start counting down to your next one!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
