Welcome Home, Leslie! Thanks a bunch for coming back to planDisney with another excellent question. It is always a great day when I can help out a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member, and I'm happy to lend a helping hand to make your 2026 Disney adventures practically perfect!
Over the years since we've been DVC Members, we have stayed in so many different types of accommodations. When it's just our family of four, we do just fine in a Deluxe Studio. When it's a bigger group, it's so great to have the living space and full kitchens that you'll find in the larger villas. The beauty of a DVC Membership is that you can use your
Vacation Points flexibly to make your vacation wishes come true!
Leslie, if you book a 2-Bedroom Villa and choose to modify the reservation to a 1-Bedroom Villa, there is no penalty. Assuming that the 2-Bedroom option requires more points than the 1-Bedroom, there may be points left over. If you modify at least 31 days before your check-in date, the difference in points will be returned to your Member account in the
Use Year that the reservation is in. If it's between 30 days and 1 day before arrival, all of the points will go into a
Holding Account. If the new reservation uses fewer points than the original one, any remaining points in holding will expire at the end of your Use Year if not used to book something else. I personally like to phone a friend at
Member Services to assist when I modify, to make sure I have all of my (Donald) ducks in a row.
I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes! Our planDisney crew loves a DVC deep dive, so please come see us again if you have any other questions about your Membership or your October trip.
Stay Magical!
Susan
