Hi there, Dana! Welcome to planDisney. It's great to have you here! I'm happy to help with your question so you can maximize the magic of your
Disney Vacation Club Membership with a voyage beyond the reef on
Disney Cruise Line. Let's get right to it!
One great benefit of DVC is the ability to use your
Vacation Points for destinations beyond your Home Resort. This includes the
Disney Collection, which allows Members to experience Disney resorts around the world and Disney Cruise Line by exchanging Vacation Points for Reservation Points. I think a cruise is always a great idea - our family has taken several trips with DCL, and they have all been amazing!
Dana, the
Points Charts for DCL list how many points are needed for each specific cruise itinerary. The number listed represents the points required for one Guest staying in a double-occupancy stateroom. For example, if the chart lists 300 points, that means a single Guest in that stateroom needs 300 points for their booking. For two Guests in the same room,
both require 300 points to make their reservations.
If you're ready to book your cruise, I recommend reserving early as the
Rule of Four applies in this situation, so you can't book within four months of the end of your Use Year. You'll need to contact
Member Services so that they can facilitate the exchange from Vacation Points to Reservation Points. There is a non-refundable fee required for this transaction ($95 at the time of writing). Once points are exchanged, they cannot be converted back to Vacation Points--so if you modify or cancel the cruise booking, the points can only be used for a different Disney Collection exchange before the end of your Use Year.
I hope this information is helpful as you decide how to best use your DVC points for your dream vacation, Dana! Thanks again for visiting planDisney--we hope to "SEA" ya real soon!
Stay (and Sail!) Magical!
Susan
