I’m booking a reservation. I am on the first day of my 7 month window. The first day of the week I’m looking at says it’s not available, but the remainder of the week is. Do I waitlist the entire week so that the remainder of the available days are held?

Hi there, Iona! Welcome Home to the Disney Vacation Club corner of planDisney. It's great to see you! I'm always happy to help out a fellow DVC Member, so let's get down to business and sort out the details of your 2025 reservation.

One of the best parts of DVC Membership, in my book, is the ability to use your Vacation Points in lots of different ways to meet your individual needs from year to year. However, when it comes to creating a Waitlist, it can be a bit complicated - so I completely understand where you're coming from! The Waitlist is a great option for Members when the resort or accommodation type you're hoping for isn't available. Since Guests' plans change all the time, this lets you have that coveted reservation as a backup in the event it becomes available. I generally don't use the Waitlist much, but many of my planDisney pals who are also DVC Members report that the stars have aligned for them on more than one occasion!

For your situation, I recommend doing the opposite of what you mentioned and booking the dates that are available now. I would then reserve something that is available for the first night at a different resort, or at your preferred resort in a different type of accommodation. Next, create a Waitlist for night #1 that meets your preferences.

With this strategy, even if your Waitlist doesn't come through, you're still assured a reservation for the first night of your vacation. In the event you have to change rooms or resorts after your first night, it's a breeze to move. Just take your bags to Bell Services in the morning and let them know where you're headed next, and like magic, they will be whisked to your second destination. Luggage may not arrive until the evening, so be sure to keep any valuables, medications, and other essentials with you.

Iona, I hope this information is helpful for your planning purposes! I'll be wishing on the Evening Star that your Waitlist dreams come true and that you have the best time at Walt Disney World Resort in 2025. Please stop by planDisney again anytime if we can help with other questions to add a little extra pixie dust to your travels. Thank you for stopping by!
