I'm just beginning to look at making reservations at WDW and I'd like to know the difference between choosing a resort on the monorail or ferry systems. Does that impact transportation time to the park or park availability hours?

It is so neat to know you are planning your vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth. The transportation system at Walt Disney World is amazing. I would suggest that the deluxe and moderate resorts usually are the ones with the Monorail and ferry system access that is most convenient. My family loved taking the Monorail from the Magic Kingdom thru the Disney's Contemporary resort back to our Polynesian hotel. They thought it was cool that we got to use it right to the door of our hotel. I personally enjoy the boat ferry. I used it from the Boardwalk resort to Disney Hollywood Studios and it really added more fun to the whole trip. As for an impact, simply put the Monorail and ferries are usually faster then the busses to the parks and resorts. I hope this helps you plan for a dazzling trip!
