Hello! I’m attending MNSSHP this month, and I’m wondering about walkway closures prior to (and during) the fireworks. I’ve heard that Fantasyland access via Liberty Square has been closed at some parties, is this weather dependant or a regular closure?

Well hey there and Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to you Matthew - it's great to have you back here at planDisney!

Now when it comes to planning ahead for our days at the Theme Parks, I'm all about logistics and efficient routes and love helping fellow Canucks navigate as they embark on adventures around Walt Disney World Resort. As you can imagine, every day when I'm at Magic Kingdom Park I observe the choreographed dance of the well-oiled machine that is the preparation ahead of each parade, show and nighttime spectacular as Cast Members block off access to certain key spots for safety and crowd control.

Having attended Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this past year myself, some of the key draws that come with the separately-priced ticket are the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular taking place on the Cinderella Castle stage, Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade that makes its way from Frontierland toward Main Street, U.S.A. and Disney's Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks which result in a significant amount of party-goers filling what is known as the "Hub" and its surrounding areas from 8:30 p.m. through the end of the evening. In my experience, the pathway leading from Sleepy Hollow to Mickey's PhilharMagic along the western side of Cinderella Castle is roped off in anticipation of the show pyrotechnics and preventing guests from getting too close, requiring them to take a longer route to access Fantasyland from Liberty Square via Memento Mori.

That said, we've also encountered moments in the past where access to parts of Fantasyland near Peter Pan's Flight have indeed been closed off at times for safety reasons and may also have to do with the sprinkler systems atop the show buildings, so keep an eye out for these on days when the Floridian weather may be a bit more temperamental than usual! (In my experience this was only a momentary delay but it could play a factor if you're looking to hop on an attraction either during or soon after the nighttime spectaculars.) I hope this helps Matthew, you're always welcome to come back to planDisney again whenever you seek any more tips or tricks ahead of your upcoming visit!
