Hi. I’ll have two 15-year-olds who will want to explore the parks on their own for part of our trip. Will they be able to use their magic bands to purchase snacks with snack credits or will they need cash since under 18? Thanks!

    Hi Lynn,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question! I remember that one of the first places where my Mom allowed me to roam around “on my own” was at Walt Disney World Resort! It was a truly memorable day, and one that I hope my son is able to experience when he gets a little bit older.

Based on my experience, charging privileges can be associated to any Guest’s MagicBand, regardless of their age. This means that, when you check in to your Disney Resort Hotel, you can tell the Lobby Concierge that you’d like your children to have charging privileges and they’ll be able to use their MagicBands to charge their purchases back to your guest folio (i.e. your room) or even use their Disney Dining Plan credits. You’ll even be able to see where they made their purchases and how much they spent on your My Disney Experience Mobile App or when you get a copy of your bill when you check out.

Another option, if you don’t want to give them charging privileges for the entire trip, would be to load a Disney Gift Card with their spending money and let them use that for the entire trip.

I hope my answer helps you plan a perfect Disney Day for everyone. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
