Ill be traveling to DW with my almost 2yr old son. We wont be using a dining plan, and I want at least one character meal for him to enjoy. I am unsure how much to bring for spending money. Would 250 be enough for two days? For souvenirs too?

    Hi, Melanie!

I'm excited for your upcoming trip with your little prince.  You are sure to make memories to last a lifetime!

It is hard to give an exact amount of what you will spend on your vacation, but there are ways to enjoy your time in Walt Disney World without breaking the bank.  You mentioned you want a character dining experience.  Try scheduling breakfast or lunch, which will be cheaper than dinner.  Since your son is under age 3, he will not be charged at any buffet dining location when dining with you.  A very ballpark figure for a character breakfast or lunch is about $40 for this meal including tax and tip.

To save money, you might want to dine at Quick Service locations for the rest of your meals.  Adult meals are generally about $10.  Cups of ice water are free, or add on a beverage for around $3. Kids meals will include their beverage and will be around $7.

With souvenir shopping, the sky is the limit!  Plan on setting your budget ahead of time as to not go over. A stuffed Mickey Mouse and a T-shirt would probably be about $50 (again, general prices!)

Let's add up for two days, for Mom and son:
    -Character Breakfast or Lunch $40
-Quick service meals (4 adult meals, 4 child meals) $90
    -Souvenirs $50
    -Snacks $20

This puts you at a total of about $200.  If you go with your $250 original budget, you should be in great shape with a bit of a cushion for any extras along the way.  Remember that all prices I listed are approximate, so allow some wiggle room!

I hope you and your son have a magical time enjoying Walt Disney World together!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
