Hi Joana! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'd be happy to help with your planning question.
Wow! It looks like your vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth is almost here. It's a great time to be finalizing those last minute details.
Disney's Contemporary Resort is THE place to be if you are a fan of the Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot. Being connected to both parks by monorail is so very convenient. Also, did you know that you are able to walk to the Magic Kingdom Park? There is a lovely walking path that begins in the resort parking lot.
In order to reach the Magic Kingdom Park by monorail from your resort, you will first make stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center,
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This can take about 10-20 minutes depending on how long the monorail is stopped at each destination. On the other hand, coming "home" from the Magic Kingdom will take only a couple of minutes once you are onboard the monorail - Disney's Contemporary Resort is the first stop when making the return trip! For this reason, Joana, when staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort, my family prefers to use the walking path when going to the Magic Kingdom, and ride the monorail when returning. It takes about fifteen minutes to walk from the resort to the Magic Kingdom Park entrance, including a quick stop at security. The path is well marked, and located just beyond the resort bus stop, but ask a Cast Member at your resort if you are unsure about finding it.
To get to Epcot from your resort, you will hop on the monorail and ride it just one stop to the Transportation and Ticket Center. Once there you will disembark and walk to the Epcot monorail boarding area where you will find transportation to that theme park. If it sounds complicated, Hakuna Matata! There are signs and Cast Members to help you navigate. The entire trip generally takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on how long you wait for the Epcot monorail to arrive.
I hope you have an easy time finding your way around the Walt Disney World Resort. For my family, just getting around is half the fun! We just love riding around the
Walt Disney World Transportation System.
Wishing you a wonderful vacation full of unforgettable memories!
