Hello Lays!
Welcome to
planDisney! Thanks for stopping by as you plan your birthday getaway. I can't think of a better way to celebrate than spending your special day in the
Most Magical Place on Earth. Let's talk about traveling during
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.
Good news, Lays.
runDisney events typically do not impact theme park hours. Marathon participants start their race very early and will pass through
Magic Kingdom Park before it opens. What you will encounter are road closures. If you're staying at a hotel in the
Disney Resorts Collection, look for signs in the lobby with information and updates regarding bus transportation affected by running routes. The buses will maneuver around closures but expect your morning commute to Magic Kingdom Park to be a bit longer than usual. By lunchtime, everything should be back to normal, and you'll see many proud runners taking pictures with their medals in front of
Cinderella Castle!
I hope this is helpful and you have a wonderful birthday celebration, Lays. Last year, I was fortunate to spend my birthday at Walt Disney World; I did all my favorite things! I visited
EPCOT, rode my favorite attractions, ate my favorite snacks, and had dinner at my favorite restaurant. It was a fantastic day with friends and family! Because the end of Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will be busy with runners celebrating their accomplishments, I recommend planning ahead. Make reservations for your birthday meal and once you arrive in the United States, purchase
Lightning Lane Passes to make your day extra special.
Thanks again for sending your question to us! Please let us know if there is anything we at planDisney can do to help make your birthday even more memorable. You've got a friend in me, Lays!
Cheers,
Betsy
