Hello! ill be going to Disneyworld for the first time in December. I'm trying to getting some planning done. I was curious, how much should I take for food/souvenirs? so far im planning to take around 1600 for 7-8 days. is that enough?

    Hi Dylan,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so excited to hear that you are planning your first trip!

The amount of money you will need depends on your plans and number of travelers. Let us review some basics first. I hope you have reserved a vacation package with a resort hotel and theme park tickets. If your vacation package includes a dining plan, you should not need much additional money for food. If it does not, you will need to estimate food costs based on your dining preferences.

Be Our Guest Restaurant's breakfast menu (quick-service) and Coral Reef Restaurant's dinner menu (table-service) will give you an idea of food costs. Quick-service restaurants are typically more affordable. On our last visit, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall cost us just over $200 at breakfast for four adults (our girls are over 9-years old so are charged as adults at meals). When we have used a dining plan, we typically have not paid additional money for food. We also always eat at resorts, theme parks or Disney Springs.

If you are driving, consider the parking fees. Although we use the complimentary resort transportation, we occasionally catch a ride with Minnie Van™ Service, Uber or Lyft so we have to include those possibilities as part of our transportation costs. Also, do not forget gratuities. At table-service restaurants, we typically tip 18%.

My family's food costs were about $2,300 for a seven-day trip this August. Usually, we spend no more than $100 on souvenirs. Ultimately, $1600 may not be enough if it needs to include all of your food costs!

Dylan, also be sure to make dining reservations. December is a busy month!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
