Hi Ben,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you for reaching out to us about your upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. As a Canadian, I was so excited when travel restrictions were lifted, my family and I headed straight back to the "Most Magical Place on Earth" as soon as we could!
Since travel restrictions are still in place and most international travelers do require a negative Covid-19 test in order to return home. Since you will be working, a Covid-19 test will also be required. The closest option for you would be AdventHealth Centra Care - Lake Buena Vista at 12500 South Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando Florida, 32836. While appointments are not required, they are recommended, and can be made online, just double check that you have the correct location as there are several to choose from. Your favourite ride share program will be able to take you to the appointment, if required. These tests do come with a significant price tag if your insurance is not accepted, so it is best to look into that prior to your arrival.
There are also several CVS drugstores that perform Covid-19 tests, as well as some private companies that offer tests as well. at a much more reasonable price, or even free of charge. With that being said, results may not come as quickly as you would like, given the tight timelines for travel it may cause some stress. Because of this, my family and I decided to test at the Orlando International Airport. Insurance is not accepted, and the test was costly, however we had our results in minutes, and didn't have to worry about the turnaround time. This test can be booked online as well. It was really easy, and the staff were lovely. We chose to rent a car and take our tests two days prior to our flight home, but seeing how quickly the process was, we will book our next tests a few hours before our flight check-in time to save the trip back to the airport. Travel time was roughly a half hour to the airport, so I wouldn't say it was close, but it was efficient and reliable. Another perk for us was that since those testing at the Orlando International airport were travelers who were asymptomatic, my daughter felt safer walking into that location as opposed to a site where most patients would be symptomatic and requiring a test because of that, not just for travel purposes.
I wish I had better news, Ben. What I have found is that if you want a fast, reliable test, you will need to pay for the service. If the timeline isn't important than a cheaper option may be a better choice for you, with no guarantee for timely results. I do hope you enjoy your time at Walt Disney World Resort, even with all the testing, we found our visit magical! If you have any other questions, please come back and visit
planDisney again, we are always here to help.
