Hi Jason,
Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question. I have visited Walt Disney World during the winter holidays, and it is truly such a magical time of year to be at Walt Disney World! From the gorgeous decorations on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom, to the resorts being decked out in their holiday finest, you are visiting at a fantastic time of year!
Now is a great time to start planning your activities for this magical trip. There is a
webpage with special events at Walt Disney World for the winter holidays. I suggest this as a good place for you to start to plan. You can see what is happening at each theme park for the holidays on this page, including the wonderful
EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays which includes captivating holiday storytellers. While information is not yet available on the
Disney Springs holiday page, I would suggest checking back there from time to time to see when it is updated with holiday happenings for this year.
Guests can currently purchase tickets for some of the special events occurring for the winter holidays. You will note; however, that some of the separately ticketed events, such as
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and
Disney Jollywood Nights will actually have their last evenings before Christmas, which it seems will be before you arrive. But do not worry! The holiday finery and festive feel will still be there when you visit.
Of course, keep an eye on your booking window for
dining reservations at Walt Disney World. This is still a while away for your trip as you can book dining 60 days ahead. However, don't let that slip your mind! Since you are visiting at a popular time of year, dining reservations will be important and potentially will fill up quickly. I suggest that you mark your calendar to remind yourself to make these!
Dining reservations are a great way to explore different resorts to see their lovely holiday decorations. For example,
Disney's Wilderness Lodge looks positively resplendent during the holidays, with its soaring lobby decked out. You could make a reservation at
Whispering Canyon Cafe and take in the beautiful decorations.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa typically hosts a life-sized gingerbread house in the lobby. A reservation at a
dining location at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa could provide a wonderful evening to take in the delicious-smelling lobby and then partake in some delicious food!
I hope that these thoughts get you started with your holiday trip planning, Jason. I would love to help you plan more; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer. Please feel free to write back with any further questions!
