Welcome aboard, Morgan!
Thanks for reaching out to planDisney; we love to talk about all things cruising and especially love to confirm details that help you make the most of your incredible vacation. I’m so excited for your upcoming 7-night Western Caribbean sailing aboard the gorgeous
Disney Fantasy! This is my family’s favorite ship, and I’ve also enjoyed that itinerary so I’m happy to help you.
The 7-night sailings on the Fantasy will include a Formal night, Semi-Formal night, and Pirate Night (some themed cruises such as Pixar Day at Sea may not include Pirate Night). The exact schedule for these assigned themes varies per week; if you’d like to write back with the exact sail date for your cruise, we can look up these details for you. You may send another question to the team as you did to submit this one or ask me directly by clicking
“Get an answer from this panelist” on
my biography page and we can continue our conversation together.
These themed evenings bring a sense of spirit and style to each night but are optional; otherwise, the dress is cruise casual throughout your vacation. Many Guests enjoy dressing up for Formal and Semi-formal nights, and my family likes the excuse to feel the grandeur of cruising and have some family pictures taken. I try to find the balance of what attire may pack easily but also make us feel special those evenings.
Laundry services, including dry cleaning and pressing, are available or you’ll find an iron in the laundry room on each deck for any final touches to your outfits.
Pirate Night is a beloved Disney Cruise Line tradition which includes a themed menu in all main dining rooms for dinner and lots of exciting entertainment on deck! Pirate attire is not required to have a good time – you'll see some Guests in full costume, and others (like my family) with a nod to the theme in a Disney pirates tee shirt or other fun accessories. No need to walk the plank if you decide to enjoy the festivities in your standard cruise casual wear!
The Western Caribbean itinerary is a great one, with beautiful ports of call and lots of fun adventures to try. Be sure to take a moment in
Falmouth, Jamaica to go to the front of the ship and look out towards the unbelievable shades of turquoise sea created by the variations in depth and seafloor textures. It was so peaceful and stunning, that location is one of my favorite memories of this sailing.
A few more
packing tips for you, Morgan:
- I always bring two swimsuits for each person. We tend to be in the pool or at a beach Port Adventure each day, and they just don’t dry fully in our stateroom overnight. Having a completely dry suit for each day is a must for everyone’s comfort.
- Bring a spillproof bottle for each member of your family. You can fill them with unlimited, complimentary water, tea, coffee, and sodas at the beverage station on Deck 11.
- You can leave towels, child floatation devices, and shower toiletries at home to save space in your luggage – Disney provides all of these throughout your cruise, complimentary!
I hope to hear from you again so we can share the exact nights for these fun themes on your itinerary!
Wishing you sunshine and smooth seas,
Amy
