I’ll be coming to Disney world with my husband who hates rollercoasters. Would he be able to wait in line with me for rides but not go on them if he didn’t want to?

    Lavender,

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

On most Disney thrill attractions there is the opportunity for a guest to opt out of the ride near the loading area. This may not be the case in every attraction, but we have done it with a skittish family member on many rides, like the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney's Hollywood Studios. On our last trip, we had a family member who had gotten a concussion days before our vacation and really could not enjoy some of the more active attractions. We could all walk through the queue together, and then she and I could bow out to find a quiet place to sit, enjoy a snack at a nearby counter-service restaurant or other quiet space, and wait for the rest of the family to rejoin us.

BONUS: We discovered some new yummy treats around the parks, like the cheeseburger spring rolls in the Magic Kingdom!

WARNING: Do be aware that if you are accessing an attraction via a Lightning Lane, be it an Individual Lightning Lane attraction or a Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction, he will need to have one of these passes as well. So, on a few of those rides, where an added cost for him might apply, you may want to let him do some exploring on his own to save some money. Otherwise, you should almost always be able to hang out and enjoy the increasingly more interactive and entertaining queues at Walt Disney World together.

Please feel free to write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
