Hi Peter!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question – I’m happy to help!
Choosing the ideal location at
Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside for easy access to both the buses and the main amenities, like the
main swimming pool (Ol’ Man Island) and the reception (the main building with the lobby, food court, and gift shop), requires a bit of strategy.
If your top goal is being close to the main building and pool, consider booking a “Preferred Room” category, which guarantees you a spot in one of the more centrally located buildings in the Alligator Bayou section. If you’re aiming for rope drop daily, the South Depot bus stop is most likely your best bet for bus service. Since it’s the first stop for buses picking up at Riverside, you’re more likely to get a seat, especially during peak times like rope drop!
From my experience, I’d have to say Buildings 14 and 15 in Alligator Bayou are probably my favorites as far as convenient locations. Both are just a short walk to the main building and Ol’ Man Island Pool. Buildings 16 and 17 have just a slightly longer walk, but are still quite close to the main building and pool. If you’d prefer to stay in the white-columned mansions of the Magnolia Bend section, Building 85 is located a footbridge away from Ol’ Man Island, and is close to the second bus pick-up point, East Depot.
I hope this helps with your plans and preparations for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. Enjoy the charming Southern theming and relaxing vibes of Port Orleans Riverside Resort!
