Hi, John!
Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question.
As a big fan of Cirque du Soleil, I was SO excited when it was announced that a brand new Cirque show was being developed to take the place of "
La Nouba", a Cirque du Soleil production that ran for close to 20 years in a custom-built, freestanding theater in Disney Springs' West Side. The new show, entitled "
Drawn to Life", was advertised as a "love letter to the art of Disney animation", and was to tell the story of a girl that discovered one last gift left to her by her father (an animator): a series of unfinished drawings. The collaboration between Cirque de Soleil and Disney would take Guests on a magical journey of classic Disney animation through design, acrobatics, dance, costuming, and Disney music.
The show was to debut in April 2020 (and I was just about to purchase tickets!) when the pandemic put everything on pause. The show still has yet to open. As Walt Disney World Resort continues to
Return to a World of Magic, I'm sure that careful consideration is being given to bringing to life this amazing new entertainment offering for Guests to enjoy. If you visit the official Cirque du Soleil website (cirquedusoleil.com), you can sign up to be notified when there are specific opening dates for cities of your choice. I've signed up for alerts for Orlando, FL, and hope to be one of the first to know when
Drawn to Life plans to take the stage at
Disney Springs!
I also encourage you to keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for breaking news and the most up-to-date information as entertainment offerings return to Walt Disney World Resort.
Thanks again for visiting planDisney. Have a magical day!
