I'd like to run the Disney Wine and Dine 1/2 in 2014. I want to start saving money and planning now, but have no idea where to start. I've never been to a Disney park and I will be bringing my family with me. My kids will be ages 4, 3, and 1. Any advice?

Hi Megan!  The Wine and Dine is my favorite runDisney race!  I think this sounds like a great plan!

First visits are always the most magical, but they can also be overwhelming to plan.  My biggest advice is to find a Certified Disney Planner to help you.  Certified planners are specially trained by Disney, are totally FREE to use, and can help you plan your entire trip.  (tickets, resorts, dining, flights, etc.)  I am using one to help me plan my first Disney cruise next year!  They are very valuable.  You can use Google to find one, and many of them also have Facebook pages.

When I plan a trip, I always use this formula.  1.  Choose a Resort  (since you are running in the race, be sure to pick a host resort for the Wine and Dine.  They will be listed on the Disney World Travel page of the runDisney website.  The host resorts will run buses to all race weekend event.  You can see the list for the 2013 race.  Next year's will be similar)  2.  Make Dining Reservations  3.  Plan your days around  your dining reservations -- so you won't be running back and forth all over Disney

Here is a link with some information about planning your first Disney trip.  If you Google the phrase "first Disney trip", you will also find a wealth of information.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions about your race!
