Hi there! I’d love to volunteer at a runDisney race weekend. How do I sign up?

    Hi Amy!

Welcome to planDisney!  I'm so glad you laced up your running shoes and stopped by to say hi!  I've enjoyed some incredible runDisney race weekends, and I'm always happy to chat with a fellow fan.  Whether you're racing through the parks or cheering on friends and family, the excitement is nothing short of thrilling!

Amy, I remember when I first started participating in runDisney races, there were sign-up opportunities for those who wanted to volunteer.  I haven't seen these listed recently, so I channeled my inner Mama Odie and decided to dig a little deeper.  I reached out to runDisney and was able to chat with a Cast Member who shared that Cast Members are now staffing race weekends, and volunteer sign-ups are no longer offered.  While it sounds like general volunteer opportunities are not available, I still see an email link at the bottom of the runDisney website for any medical volunteers to contact AdventHealth.

I know this may not be the news you were hoping to hear, but I'm sure you can find plenty of fun as a runner or non-runner on race weekends.  One of my favorite parts of any race weekend is visiting the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo.  The expo is open to the public and is typically held at ESPN Wide World of Sports.  My oldest son loved exploring the vendors and shopping along with me even though he wasn't running!  If you're not running, you can also always scout out the course maps for a great place to cheer.  I've seen some really creative signs along the course and the positive vibes mean a lot - especially as the miles add up!

Another great way to enjoy the magic of runDisney is by signing up for a virtual race.  I participated in the Star Wars 10K virtually in 2021 and had the best time running through my neighborhood in my race costume and taking pictures with some of my Star Wars memorabilia after the run.  The Virtual 12Ks of Christmas are returning this year, and the all-new Virtual Love on the Run 14-miler for 2025 was just recently announced.  These are great races for the whole family to enjoy together and they can help pass the time between traveling to a Disney destination for the next big event!

Amy, I hope this information helps to give you a few ideas to join the runDisney community - whether you're choosing to race or not!  If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again!

    Wishing you many magical miles!
    Kristi
