Hi Dawn!
So let me get this straight: you are sailing on the
Disney Wonder and have San Diego as your port destination? Wow, that sounds like winning the cruising lottery to me! I'll bet you cannot wait for October to get here and to set sail with Captain Mickey on your Baja cruise.
San Diego is a charming city with great things to see and do like Balboa Park, home to the famed San Diego Zoo; the USS Midway Museum; and whale watching tours. So I totally get why you'd like to maximize your time there and see as much as possible...without having to wheel your luggage around! Fortunately, there are luggage storage companies in San Diego like BAGBNB which has a downtown location that looks incredibly close to the port. Fees are per bag, and they are kept in a secured location like a bar, bistro, or hotel in the area that participates in the program.
Another option would be to rent a car at the airport on debarkation day and store the bags in the trunk. Yes, I know that sounds crazy at first, but think about it. Many rental car companies have pretty competitive day rates or specials. Depending on the price, you might actually come out ahead compared to checking bags at a per bag rate. Bonus: the San Diego International Airport and the Port of San Diego are less than three miles apart, so you wouldn't have to trek too far out of the way to store the bags and then hit the bricks to explore the city. Money saved on storing luggage means more money to spend on your Disney cruise and in San Diego!
Cruise back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if you have more questions. Wishing you a WONDERful cruise!
Happy Sailing!
