Hi Kristin! Welcome back to planDisney. I am so excited you asked about my absolute events at Walt Disney World Resort,
runDisney Race Weekends!
I will give you fair warning. Once you attend a
runDisney race weekend, you will be eternally hooked. I am so proud of you for setting such an amazing goal as completing a half marathon. There is no better feeling than crossing that finish line and getting to do it at
Walt Disney World Resort is indescribable.
To participate in any runDisney 10k, half marathon or marathon, you must be able to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace. Click
here for On Site Policies, including pacing requirements. If this is an issue for you, I have two suggestions. First, if you want to experience a live runDisney event (and you do), try one of the
5K events. Those are not timed and so much fun as you will often see elaborate
themed costumes! Secondly, did you know, you can complete many runDisney events at home virtually and still receive amazing runDisney medals and participant shirts? Here is a link to the
Virtual Princess Half Marathon still available for registration at the time I am writing this answer.
Now for registration tips! I have become pretty good at this unscientific game. First, make sure you set up your
runDisney account and it is current. Keep up to date on the runDisney website for announcements of registration dates and times. Sometimes,
Disney Parks Blog or
runDisney Blog sites will also announce upcoming runDisney information. A new option is to join
Club runDisney for early access to registration dates and other runDisney perks. The day of registration, have your account open and ready to go. Here is my most important inside tip, start refreshing the registration link prior to the announced time. Often, I am put in queue minutes before the official registration opening time. Have your credit card ready to fill in and hit send! Voila, while I don't proclaim this method to full proof, it sure has worked for me in the past.
Finally, I want you to keep an eye out and your EARs open for the announcement of registration dates for my favorite runDisney Race Weekend,
Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend (this link will soon update with new dates).
Again, congrats on your run/walk journey! Remember, a 14 minute mile is the same distance as a six minute mile.
Every Mile is Magic,
Cindy
