Hello! I'd just like to know which transportation method is best to each park from Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort (e.g. is it best to take water transport to Magic Kingdom- less transfers, less wait times, etc.).

Hello Antonette - welcome to planDisney!

I'm so happy that you stopped by to ask us a question - we just love helping others plan their magical vacations! It looks like your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is coming up soon - how exciting! You'll be visiting during the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration, so you're going to have a packed trip full of exciting new experiences, food, fun, and so much more!

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is such a unique and beautiful place to call home during your vacation. Nestled along the shores of the Sassagoula River, you'll be transported to rural Louisiana where time passes a little bit more slowly. While you're there, be sure to walk (or take a boat!) over to Port Orleans - French Quarter for some delicious Mickey beignets at Scat Cat's Club - Lounge. These aren't your typical Bourbon Street beignets ... though they look a bit more normal once you dunk and bite the ears off!

Your best bet for getting between the Port Orleans Resorts and the four theme parks will be through the complimentary Walt Disney World Bus Service. Bus service between Disney Resort hotels and Disney theme parks begins 45 minutes prior to park opening and ends one hour after closing, giving you plenty of time to enjoy everything the parks have to offer.

Your question mentioned water transportation, and while you can't take a boat from this resort to a theme park, you can take a beautiful boat ride down the Sassagoula River to all the exciting shopping, dining, and entertainment at Disney Springs! Disney Springs also offers complimentary bus transportation to and from most destinations at Walt Disney World Resort.

One of our favorite ways to end a day is to catch a bus to Disney Springs from whatever theme park we've spent the day at. I love to walk around, grab a drink or dinner, people watch, and of course, do a little bit of shopping! If you take a page out of my playbook, you'd be able to take a convenient boat ride right back to your resort!  Keep in mind that water transportation availability is subject to weather and other factors, but don't fret, you can always catch a convenient bus!

Everyone here at planDisney is so excited for you to visit! If you have any other questions as you continue planning, please don't hesitate to contact me.
