I’d like to know what provisions/concessions DVC has made regarding banking points as a result of COVID. Seems unfair to lose a year’s worth of points because of the pandemic. Has DVC extended the use year by a year so members will not lose their points?

    Hi Sharon!

Welcome to planDisney, a group of Disney enthusiasts eager to help answer your vacation questions. As a Disney Vacation Club Member since 2012, I feel as though my membership has opened up a whole new world of vacation opportunities for my family. We have been able to visit places we never thought we would see, enjoy luxurious accommodations far beyond what we had ever experienced, and have been able to make family vacations a priority for our family. I hope that you have found your Disney Vacation Club Membership as magical as I have.

This past year has been unprecedented, with vacation plans canceled and interrupted far beyond what any of us have previously experienced. During the closure of Walt Disney World, some Disney Vacation Club vacations had to be canceled, with those Members refunded their Vacation Points to the original Use Year. Some Vacation Points that would have expired due to the cancelation were extended for a specific amount of time. Disney Vacation Club Members can always bank their Vacation Points from the current Use Year to be used in their next Use Year. If previously banked Vacation Points are set to expire, Members may consider transferring those Vacation Points into RCI exchange, which will extend the life of the points. All transferred Vacation Points into RCI exchange cannot be returned to Vacation Points and are only available for RCI accommodations.

I highly encourage you to look at the various options you have for using your Disney Vacation Club Vacation Points. If you need further assistance in discussing your options, reach out to Member Services at (800) 800-9800.

I hope this information helps you find the best use of your Vacation Points, Sharon, and that you continue to enjoy the magic of your Disney Vacation Club Membership! Please remember that you’ve got a friend in us here at planDisney, so stop back by any time we can help answer your vacation questions.
