I’d like to gift my 2 nieces and 1 nephew ( under the age of 9) tickets to Disney. Can I use the “gift” option and put it under their moms name who is not a Florida resident. Is this acceptable?

Hello there, Juan. Welcome to planDisney

I think it is so thoughtful that you would like to purchase Walt Disney World Theme Park tickets for your family to enjoy. Giving the gift of magic is a wonderful thing!

Juan, Florida resident theme park tickets are designed specifically for Florida residents to use. The tickets actually have to be activated once you are at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. To activate these tickets, Guests ages 18 and over must show valid proof of Florida residency at a Guest Relations window before the first use. This can look like a valid Florida driver's license, a valid Florida state-issued I.D. card or a valid Florida military I.D. card. There are also a few other ways to show proof of residency but those are the most common.

While your nieces and nephew won't have to show proof of residency since they are all children, their tickets will need to still be activated by someone who can, like yourself. You can purchase your nieces and nephew the tickets, but you will need to be present at the Guest Relations window before they enter the first Walt Disney World Theme park to activate them. For your sister, who I am assuming is 18 or over, she would need to purchase a standard Walt Disney World Theme Park ticket to accompany them since she would not be able to show proof of residency.

After the theme park tickets are all set, Juan, I did want to mention that your family will still need to make park pass reservations to visit a Walt Disney World Theme Park. These are basically like a virtual placeholder in line at the theme park they'd like to go to each day. After their tickets are linked to their MyDisneyExperience account, they can visit the park pass reservation website. It's an automated process that will take them through the park pass selection process.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion about the Florida resident tickets, Juan. If you have any other questions about this, or anything else, please feel free to stop back by and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
