I'd like to use my camera for photos onboard, but on our last DCL cruise in 2008, the photographers at the character greetings would not use our camera to take photos of our whole group. Is this still the case? Does DCL offer Photopass cd's like at WDW?

    Hi Amanda!

I have been able to have pictures taken with my own camera during the character meet and greets while on board a Disney Cruise.  The photographers won’t do it, but you can ask the character chaperones.  They will usually take it for you.  I can understand if they say no to keep the line moving along and so everyone gets a chance to visit.  I sailed on the Disney Dream last month and they had a new way of handling their photography.  Instead of hunting for your photos in a huge collage of everyone on board, they use facial recognition and group all of your photos in your own book so you only have to look one place to find all of your family’s photos.  You can also view them on the provided computers by scanning your room key.  There is an option now to purchase a PhotoCD, which is what we did.  The only problem I had with this is that you don’t get any of the cool borders that come with the photos that are printed.  We ended up getting the smallest photo package and then purchased the PhotoCD as well.

    Have a fantastic cruise!
