Hi, I'd like to bring a back pack into the parks with me. Someone told me to bring a clear back pack because they will get searched when entering the park and if I don't I'll need to remove every item. Is this really the case?

    Hello, Debbie,

You are welcome to bring a backpack into the parks, and it doesn't need to be a clear one.  All guests do go through a bag check before entering the parks.  You will need to have your backpack open, including all side pockets.  The security guards will use a flash light to look inside and sometimes they feel the bag from the bottom.  On occasion if you have a large item at the top of your bag (such as a rain poncho), they may ask you to remove it to look at the items beneath it.  However, I have never had to remove every item or have seen another guest have to do that.

The lines move quickly, but I do find it helps to have your bag open and ready to go as you enter the actual inspection point.  Also, if anyone in your party is "bagless," s/he can move through an entrance that typically has no line.  By doing this, it cuts down on the number of people in line.

Have a great trip and please let us know if we can help again.
