Hi Nicole,
It's nice to see you stopping by planDisney with a question! We have several medical issues in my family as well, so I understand the need for additional support navigating the parks. Fortunately, the Walt Disney World® Resort does have many
Services for Guests with Disabilities. One of those services is the
Disability Access Service. Given the dates of your visit, you will need to register via live video chat prior to your arrival.
Pre-arrival registration can occur 30 days prior to your visit. If you are approved, your DAS will be valid for up to120 days. When I have gone through the pre-registration process in the past, at times, it has taken a few hours and at other times, it was much shorter. So, I suggest you plan accordingly and give yourself some time to register.
Then, be sure that you have downloaded the
My Disney Experience Mobile App. If you are approved for DAS, when you arrive to the parks, you will use the mobile app to make your DAS selections. We typically make our first DAS selection for an attraction with the longest wait time. And then, we eat breakfast, visit a few shops, and make our way to the ride.
Nicole, I do have one additional tip. Do not underestimate the value of
advanced dining reservations! We use these reservations to save time waiting for food at some of our favorite dining locations. When you make those reservations, just be sure to plan with geography in mind. We will often make a dinner reservation at a restaurant closer to the front of the park so that we can head back to the resort right after dinner.
Happy planning!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
