my husband and I and my three boys, 3, 9, & 11 will be in florida 2/12/08 - 2/27/08 with a condo avail. to us in ft lauderdale 2/18 - 2/23. any advise as to how we can spend some of the time at disney before or after ft.lauderdale dates?

    Hi Andrea,

You are lucky to have such an option available to you during the cold Northeastern months-any extra room?!  Just kidding!

Seriously though, if your plans for Ft. Lauderdale are to relax and chill, I would recommend heading to Walt Disney World first and then relax in Ft. Lauderale.

Remember in Walt Disney World to stick to your family's schedule (take the three year old pirate back to the ship to nap if he can't sleep in a dinghy(aka stroller), if you are an early riser use the early morning Extra Magic Hours, etc.) and visit EPCOT first because you can discover its charm before entering the Magic Kingdom.

Typhoon Lagoon will be open as well as Downtown Disney.  For an update on operations, check the calendar at to see if any attractions will not be available.

I would also remember to use the parent swap on big rides such as Space Mountain so you can shorten your wait on lines as well as Fast Pass.

Finally I would book Advance Dining Reservations so you can take a temperature check on staying in the parks or leaving.

But most importantly, ask your pirates what one or two "treasures" are a must see and hold your word or they could make you walk the plank!
