    Me my husband and my 5 yr old daughter are going for the first time in January 2013, what is the closest resort to the magic kingdom? I was considering staying at the art of animation because if the little mermaid rooms since my daughter loves Ariel.

    Hi Melanie,

    How exciting!! Your first visit is always so special!!   The closest resorts to the Magic Kingdom are Disney's Contemporary resort, Disney's  Polynesian resort and Disney's Grand Floridian. All three of these resorts are on the monorail line which gives you quick access to the Magic Kingdom as well as the ticket and transportation center. You really can't go wrong with any Walt Disney World resorts but we do prefer to stay at one of the resorts on the monorail line. 

    Your daughter will love the new Ariel meet and greet as well as the new Little Mermaid ride in the all new Fantasyland!
