My husband and I will be going to WDW this October. We have never been to EPCOT Food and Wine Festival. Any helpful hints? Also we will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Any ideas on making it a special day/week? I would love to surprise him.

    Hi Susanna,

Happy anniversary! I can't think of a better way to celebrate. My husband and I have spent many anniversaries at Walt Disney World, and I suspect we will be there next year for our 30th.

The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is our top annual event. My suggested approach: Scan through the Global Marketplaces menus in advance to get an idea of your must-try tastes and sips. Arrive by 11 a.m., when the World Showcase opens. Make one midday lunchtime circuit of the booths, starting on the Mexico side. Spend the afternoon enjoying Soarin', Spaceship Earth or a culinary or beverage demo in the Festival Center. Then make a second dinnertime circuit of the food, starting on the Canada side, pausing  the American Gardens Theatre to enjoy the Eat to the Beat concert series.

Note that festival Saturdays are very busy. I'd plan to dedicate a weekday or two to Food & Wine to get the most out of the experience.

Now for your anniversary: Make sure you pick up Happy Anniversary buttons at Guest Relations. When you wear them, you'll get lots of well wishes and occasional special magic from cast members.

We like to plan a special celebration dinner. Between old favorites and new options -- Tiffins at Animal Kingdom and several spots at Disney Springs -- it's even harder to choose. I'd recommend making a reservation at a place that specializes in your husband's favorite food.

I'm out of space but please get back in touch if you'd like more specific dining recommendations or ideas for special activities.

    Enjoy your time together!
