my husband & I are visiting in Jan for only 4 nights we would like to stay at delux resort, but haven't been before we plan on having a day at MK, a day at MGM, and one at Universal should we consider epcot resort for evening activities or MK for convi

I am sure your stay will be fun filled no matter which resort you choose.  The Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk are next to EPCOT which is very convenient and also a short distance to the Hollywood Studios.  In fact there is a path (about 1 mile) where you can walk to that park or you can choose to take the water taxis.  Since you are coming without children EPCOT offers a variety of night activity which you may enjoy being close to.  There is also a wonderful spot called Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk where you can hear dueling pianos nightly or you may want to take in a sports game at ESPN Club. From any of these resorts you can use the Disney transportation and catch a bus to both Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.  The deluxe resorts are wonderful and you will enjoy your stay no matter which you choose.
