Hi, my husband and I will be visiting DWMK July 13-19th with our 20mth old for his 2nd birthday. We would love to visit one of the water parks but we're not to sure which of the parks has more rides for his age group. Also, is July a busy time of year @ MK

    Hi Kashuna!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

July is a crowded time of year to visit Walt Disney World, but it is only extremely busy around the July 4th Holiday Weekend.

The best tip I can give is to visit the independent website TouringPlans.com.  That's the website for the research team behind the tour book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World".  They are famous in the Disney fan community for producing a crowd calendar that predicts the crowd levels on specific days in specific parks.  You should consider using one of their touring plans.  Those are step by step sequences to visit the parks (basically what order you should visit the rides and shows) to minimize your wait in lines.  They can save you considerable time especially when the parks are crowded.  A small subscription fee is needed to access all of the information on the site, but I highly recommend it.  Their recommendations are based on years of data collection and a lot of math.  As an engineer, I'm a huge fan of their work.

With regards to which water park to visit, I highly recommend visiting Typhoon Lagoon. Both parks are great and both parks have their fans, but Typhoon Lagoon has a lot more shading than Blizzard Beach.  That is mostly because of the theming of the two parks, but it really makes a difference on a hot and humid day in Florida.  I think having more shade will be especially important with a 2 year old.  I suggest getting to Typhoon Lagoon early and finding one of the chairs in the shade near the children's area.  You will most likely be spending most of your time there.

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
