My husband and I will be visiting Disney World the week of Christmas 2019 staying at Port Orleans Riverside. We plan on going to MK 12/23, will crowds be unbearable? Any tips for transportation or fighting crowds while we are there?

    Hey there, Hanna!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so excited to hEAR you'll be visiting Walt Disney World Resort in December!

In 2017, my family visited over the week of Christmas and spent Christmas Eve at Magic Kingdom Park. Although we found the park to be pretty crowded, we did not find it to be unbearable and were able to accomplish everything on our "must do" list.

Over the years, my family has frequently visited the theme parks on the days leading up to Christmas. It's a magical time to visit! We've found that the park hours are usually extended during the holidays. When we visited Magic Kingdom Park on Christmas Eve, Extra Magic Hours was offered that morning from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Since we were staying at a Disney Resort hotel, we took advantage of that time in the park in order to experience several attractions before the park opened to all Guests. My family likes to arrive at the theme parks prior to park opening and then return to our resort for an afternoon break. We then return to the park in the early evening in order to experience the nighttime activities. Be sure to take advantage of FastPass+ service in order to decrease your wait for several of the most popular attractions. Consider making your FastPass+ selections for mid-morning to early afternoon, so you can hopefully book an additional FastPass+ selection once you've redeemed your initial 3 picks.

From your resort, I recommend taking the bus to Magic Kingdom Park since the buses are able to drop you near the gate. I've always found the buses to run quite frequently when crowd levels are higher.

I hope this is helpful, Hanna! Please stop by again with any new questions as you continue to plan a magical and merry trip!
