Hi Andrea! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks so much for taking the time to send us your question. I'm glad you found us!
First, I want to say thank you to your husband for his service. As someone who has many family members who have served, I know your family has endured sacrifices too. Planning a vacation at The Happiest Place on Earth is the perfect way to make some magical memories together. It sounds like you're planning to stay at
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This is a beautiful hotel and is the closest to the theme parks with a dedicated entrance to
Disney California Adventure Park. Because all of the
Disneyland Resort Hotels are within close proximity to the theme parks, fireworks can be heard throughout the resort. I have some suggestions about how you might be able to avoid the sound of the fireworks.
When checking in, you could mention this to a Cast Member and request a room furthest away from the
Downtown Disney District side of the hotel. You could plan to spend time in your room watching TV around the time of the fireworks display. You might also consider making an
Advanced Dining Reservation for a later time that would correspond with the timing of the fireworks. In my experience, I haven't been able to hear the fireworks when dining at a restaurant inside the hotel.
Storytellers Cafe is a great spot for dinner with an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet.
I hope these suggestions help with your planning. During your visit, I recommend attending the Flag Retreat Ceremony at
Disneyland Park. The time for this ceremony can be found in the
Daily Events Schedule as the date for your visit draws closer. The Flag Retreat Ceremony is an amazing tribute to our nation's brave men and women who have served and are currently serving.
As you are planning your Disneyland Resort vacation, please feel free to send us any additional questions you might have at
planDisney. You've got a friend in us, and we would love to help!
Wishing you magic,
Smiles,
Lisa
