My husband and I will be venturing to Disney in March 0f 2011, and I am already planning! We have 5 kids- ages 2,5,7,8,&13. Any helpful hints on how to make sure each child gets the most out of the experience? Any money saving ideas? Must sees?

Hi Jessica, I'm a Mom of 5 kids too and a BIG fan of Disney family vacations!

Your kids are great ages for a Disney trip. We've taken our five almost every year since our youngest was 3 months old (she's almost 6 now).

With a family your size, the most economical lodging option for you will be to stay in a Value Resort with connecting Standard view rooms. See: HERE. You'll have 2 bathrooms this way, which as you know, will come in handy. I highly recommend that you stay on Disney property, as you will be eligible for the "Extra Magic Hours" and Disney's Dining Plan (which saves our family a considerable amount of money). In addition, Disney provides free transportation from the airport on the Magical Express. You won't even need a rental car, as the on-site transportation is free and can get you to all of the Theme Parks, Water Parks, Downtown Disney and the various Resorts.

For tickets, I recommend that you purchase Base tickets as opposed to Park  Hoppers. This, too, will save you money. There is a bit involved in getting 5 children to a Park, so once we get there, we tend to stay put (rather than switching mid-day). There is SO much to see in each Park, that we choose to fully immerse ourselves in the magic and soak it all in.

If you would like to send me a follow-up with the ages & gender of each child, I would be happy to help you with specific recommendations of "must sees" to be sure they each get the most out of your trip.

    Have fun planning!
