My husband is 80% VA Disabled he recently received and ID card to have access to commissary with this card with his DD-214 be enough to get military tickets for our family of five

Hi there, Janel, and thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

First off, I want to thank you for your family’s service! To help answer your question, I went straight to my dear friend, fellow Panelist, and military wife, Kristen N., for the scoop. She recently answered a similar question for a Guest traveling to Walt Disney World Resort. In the past, the answer to your question would have been, “No,” however, according to the brand-new Disabled Veterans Equal Access Act of 2018, which went into effect on January 1 of this year, those with updated Veteran ID or VHIC cards that say ‘MWR, Commissary,’ as your husband’s card does, now have access to utilize the ticket office on base. Just keep in mind that your family won’t qualify for the special 3 and 4-day promotional Park Hopper Tickets and reduced Disneyland Resort Hotel room rates seen on the Disneyland.com site, since those are strictly for Active Duty, Reservists, Fully Retired or 100% Medically-Retired Guests.

So, the tickets your family should qualify for are sold at the Military Travel & Ticket Sales Centers, where you can find a slightly-discounted ticket option to Disneyland Resort. These tickets are only sold on base, and are available in 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5-day ticket options, with or without Park Hoppers. Please call or visit the MWR website of your nearest base/post to find the price list of these discounted tickets. If you don’t currently live near a base, or you live in an Eastern Region and your base only carries tickets for Walt Disney World Resort, here are some bases that do sell these discounted tickets near Disneyland Resort: Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Los Angeles Air Force Base, March Air Reserve Base, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Naval Base San Diego.

I hope this information helps, Janel! I’m so excited for your family to embark on magical adventures this summer! We have so much to look forward to this summer at the Disneyland Resort, including the opening of Avengers Campus! I can’t wait for the epic adventures Guests can embark on there, including an all-new Spider-Man attraction.

Wishing you a summer filled with pixie-dusted fun!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Greetings from sunny California! I live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder (and now a Magic Key Passholder) for more than 20 years! As a mom of three kids ages 5-10, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! Learn More About Kristin
