My husband uses a mobility scooter (has 3 wheels) because he’s not able to walk long distances. Would he be allowed to use this on a Disney Cruise ship? If allowed, would we have to book a handicapped accessible cabin? He’s fine with short distances.

Ahoy there, Kimberly! Thank you for sailing by planDisney with your question.

Mobility devices are allowed on Disney Cruise Line, and most Guest areas are wheelchair accessible. Your husband will be able to take the scooter to the restaurants, theatres, and shops. While you are not required to book a wheelchair-accessible stateroom, you will have more space in an accessible stateroom, plus the doors are 32inches wide. Wheelchairs and scooters must be stored inside staterooms and designated public storage areas.  You will not be able to leave it in the hallway near your stateroom.

I suggest completing the Disney Cruise Line Special Services form in advance so Disney will know you are bringing your mobility device and can assist you with any necessary arrangements. You can also call Disney Cruise Line and speak with someone from the Special Services Team if you have specific questions.

Kimberly, planDisney is here to answer all of your Disney vacation planning questions. Come back to"sea" us!
