My husband is uncomfortable with heights (no high rollercoaster drops or helicopter-like rides) & doesn't do well with always-spinning rides (i.e. Teacups). Do you have a list of rides that would be best for him to skip?

Hi Corrine, and welcome back to planDisney!

If there’s one thing that I love about The Most Magical Place on Earth is that it offers experiences for everyone to enjoy. Whether we love accelerating thrills or a slower-paced attraction, the options are endless. Let’s talk about attractions that your husband may want to skip during your upcoming vacation. My Prince Charming isn’t fond of spins, twirls, and drops either, so I’m just the gal to help you out.

In general, attractions that have minimum height requirements tend to be on the more thrilling side. That is a rule of thumb, but of course, the Mad Tea Party (also known as “The Teacups”) has no height requirement and it can be quite the adventure…So, my hope is that I don’t miss a ride or two; however, here is a list of attractions that your husband may want to sit out because of their heights factor or dizzying spins:

    Magic Kingdom Park
    Astro Orbiter
    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad*
    Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin**
    Dumbo the Flying Elephant**
    Mad Tea Party
    The Magic Carpets of Aladdin**
    Seven Dwarfs Mine Train*
    Space Mountain
    TRON Lightcycle / Run

    EPCOT
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
    Mission: SPACE
Soarin’ Over California (If he goes on it, request a bottom row.)

    Disney’s Hollywood Studios
    Alien Swirling Saucers
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
    Slinky Dog Dash*
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance*
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

    Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
Avatar Flight of Passage (If he goes on it, request a bottom row.)
Expedition Everest—Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
    TriceraTop Spin**

*This indicates that the drops are not super high, and it’s a great entry-level coaster.
**This indicates that the ride either has a user-controlled spin or spins widely.

As a special note, Frozen Ever After, Test Track, DINOSAUR, Kali River Rapids, and Pirates of the Caribbean have slight drops, but are more akin to a sliding motion. You probably won’t get a butterfly feeling in your stomach.

AN EXTRA GEM: Check out my friends’ planDisney Podcast episode all about thrills at Walt Disney World Resort! As they mention in the episode, you’ll find that thrills come in all shapes and sizes. Even if your husband doesn’t ride attractions with rollercoaster-style drops, he’ll still find experiences that will excite him.

Corrine, I just know that your family will have the BEST time ever! Any one of the panelists here at planDisney is more than happy to answer any additional questions about your upcoming vacation. So, revisit us if you need us. See you real soon!
