Hello Kiran!
Welcome to planDisney! I love traveling to Walt Disney World Resort with my kids. I'm sure many would agree with me as it is truly one of those bucket list events in every person's life. Seeing the magic through their eyes is such a special experience that I will never forget.
Kiran, what you need to learn about today is
Rider Switch. Rider Switch is how you can experience all of the attractions when you have a little one that doesn't meet the height requirements for an attraction. The way it works is that first, your group must speak with the Cast Member at the attraction entrance. You will be then broken into two groups. The first group or parent can enjoy the attraction with their 5-year-old while waiting in the standard queue or the Lightning Lane queue. (The first group can only go on the Lightning Lane queue if they have a return time via
Lightning Lane Multi Pass.) The other group stays behind outside the attraction where they can blow bubbles, eat snacks, and explore the nearby area with their little one. Cast Members may scan some tickets or MagicBands before you separate. Once the first group is done the second group goes up to that Cast Member area and will have their bands or tickets scanned again and directed to the Lightning Lane queue to enjoy the attraction. A maximum of two people can be in the second group so you could bring your 5-year-old with you so that they can enjoy it with both parents!
Rider Switch is available at most attractions. For those attractions it is not available it is usually because they are rides that the whole family can enjoy together and have some cute queues that your 2-year-old can handle and may even enjoy. My favorite queue for little ones is at
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. There is an interactive honeybee playset and a wall of "honey" that reveals a story. Even the parents get in on the fun with this queue.
I hope that this was helpful and you all have a magical time together. I love talking about traveling with little ones so feel free to
ask me any questions directly!
Happy Planning!
