My husband and I are traveling with our family to Disney soon. We recently found out that we are expecting our first child and we want to surprise our family with the announcement while we are there. Is there a way of getting the park to help us announce?

    Hi Tori, welcome to planDisney!

Winnie the Pooh was right, sometimes the smallest things do take up the most room in your heart. Thank you for trusting planDisney with your big news. Let's brainstorm a few ways to make this pregnancy reveal practically perfect in every way.

It was just over 12 years ago that I had similar news to share with my family at Walt Disney World Resort. It was still early in my pregnancy, but I knew my niece would wonder why I wasn't going on our favorite thrill rides together. My husband and I devised a plan that soon became one of our most magical memories. As soon as we arrived on Main Street, U.S.A., we knew our family would want to take a picture in front of Cinderella Castle. My husband discreetly asked the Disney PhotoPass photographer to count to three before she took our picture, at which time my husband and I yelled, "We're pregnant!" in unison. Those are some of my most cherished family pictures, as they capture my mother-in-law's joy, my husband's pride, and my niece's obliviousness to the scene behind her.

A similar reveal can take place with any Disney PhotoPass photographer, Tori. This means you can make your announcement with royal company at Princess Fairytale Hall or in a quieter spot like behind the Tree of Life in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

For a VIP experience, I highly recommend booking a Capture Your Moment session, which allows you to reserve a 20-minute session for up to 8 Guests with a Disney PhotoPass photographer. If there are more than 8 people in your family, you'll need to schedule two back-to-back sessions. Sessions are available in all four parks and can be booked online up to 60 days in advance. The Disney PhotoPass photographer will have some photo props to suggest if you let them in on the secret, or you can bring your own. I've seen some adorable pregnancy announcements with baby's first set of Mickey ears. Speaking of...

Personalized items are another great way to present and/or remember this special occasion. Disney's Wonderful World of Memories in Disney Springs and Box Office Gifts in Magic Kingdom Park are great places to embroider your moment. A personalized ornament from Disney's Days of Christmas in Disney Springs or Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom Park is also a tangible way to commemorate your announcement.

I highly recommend purchasing Memory Maker for your vacation, Tori. One purchase includes unlimited downloads of all Disney PhotoPass images captured during your park days, including Capture Your Moment sessions.

I'm so excited for you and your growing family, Tori. I encourage you to use planDisney as a planning resource throughout your parenthood journey.

    Choose magic,
    Jennifer
