My husband and I are thinking about taking our daughter to Disney World in January when she will be 20 months old. We were wondering if she will have fun at that age or if we should wait a year and go when she's 2 1/2. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi Lauren!

I'm a huge advocate of giving infants/toddlers/preschoolers the opportunity to experience Walt Disney World. Both of my children made their first visits when they were infants and I've never regretted the decision to bring them at such a young age.

While your daughter may not be able to experience certain attractions, she will definitely be exposed to an incredible array of sensory experiences during your visit. Here are a few examples:

    1) Attractions - I clearly saw outward expressions of joy and happiness from my children when we rode slow-moving attractions like "it's a small world" in the Magic Kingdom. They giggled and bounced around the whole time!

    2) Parades - My children loved the parades because my wife and I would unabashedly dance to the music while we held them. It was obvious that they caught the spirit of the moment with us!

    3) Shows - Whether it was a stage performance or even an impromptu "streetmosphere" performance, our children loved being immersed in those storytelling environments.

If you keep your schedule rather relaxed, you'll also find that some of the unexpected experiences you encounter along the way will likely be very entertaining for your daughter. Plus, plan to take a nap break in the middle of the day. Giving her a chance to recharge her batteries in the comfort of your hotel room will pay dividends.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

Take lots of pictures! The pictures I took of my children at Walt Disney World are some of my most prized possessions.

I hoped that help to seal the deal! If you should have any other questions, or would like some additional tips, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can!

    Best regards,
    Derek
