    my husband is a teacher.we have to follow the school calender for vacation. what is the least crowded out of all the school breaks?

    Hi Doreen,

    I had to answer your question because my parents are both retired teachers, and from the time I was in diapers, we only went to Disney when "school was out"!  I choose not to take my children out of school to vacation, so I've followed this tradition with my family as well.

    It's not clear where you are from, but if you are not from the South, where many schools go back early, a good time to visit is during the last two weeks of August.  That's when you'll find my family at the parks!  The crowds thin out significantly from the "summer rush".  It is, however, hot, but you can search the panel for lots of tips for dealing with the heat.  One of our favorites is to visit the theme parks early in the day and again in the evening, with a visit to our resort pool and/or a water park wedged in between.

    We are fortunate that our school district's "Spring Break" does not coincide with Easter, and is later than most college breaks.  We very often travel during this period as well.  In fact, we'll be at the "World" in mid-April.  Again, the days immediately surrounding this holiday tend to be crowded.

    If your district has a mid-winter break that does not coincide with President's Weekend, this is a great choice as well.  The holiday itself, however, is a generally crowded. 

    By far, the most crowded "break" is over the Christmas Holiday.  The Magic Kingdom has reached capacity on Christmas Day on many occasions, for example.

    The good part of travelling during peak seasons is that Disney compensates for the crowd by offering much longer theme park hours, allowing your family plenty of time to see and experience all of the things on your wish list.
