Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Victoria!
First, let me offer my sincere thanks for your husband's service to our country. Second, let me thank you. Spouses of our service men and women play an important role too.
I think a trip to Disney World is a great place to spend some family time before your husband is deployed. I'm not sure of your budget, so I'll offer a suggestion for a Deluxe, Moderate and Value Resort.
My vote for a Deluxe Resort would be
Disney's Contemporary Resort.
* Its within walking distance of the Magic Kingdom where you'll likely spend a lot of time.
* Its on the Monorail line and the Monorail goes through the hotel - kids love this!
* Chef Mickey's is located in it.
* Great pool & water sport activities.
* You can see the Electrical Water Pageant from the Contemporary.
* Lots of activities including outdoor movies.
For a Moderate Resort I'd go with
Port Orleans - Riverside.
* Great pool and playground.
* You can take a boat to Downtown Disney.
* Catch and release fishing.
* Bike rentals.
* Lots of activities including campfires.
For a value resort I'd go with
Disney's Art of Animation Resort.
* Its the newest Disney Resort.
* The theming is colorful and awesome. Your son will love the
Cars themed rooms.
* Features the largest resort pool on Disney Property with underwater speakers.
* Has has playgrounds and movies under the stars.
