My Husband and I are taking our 4 and 5 year old to WDW for the first time and my husband is a disabled Military veteran and we are wondering if we rent a motorized chair what would be the best place to get one?

Hi, Julia!  How exciting that you guys are getting to go to Walt Disney World for the first time together!  Take lots of pictures of those excited little faces - your kids are GREAT ages to be making their first trip to see Mickey and friends!

Each of the theme parks has a number of ECV's (electronic convenience vehicles - or scooters) available to rent.  You cannot take them outside of the parks, but you can rent them at Downtown Disney.  The daily rental fee for the ECV is $45, and if you rent the unit inside a theme park, there is a $20 refundable security deposit (the Downtown Disney security deposit is $100, refunded when you return the unit).

There are a number of companies in the Orlando area that will rent you a scooter for your entire vacation - delivering it to your hotel, picking it up when you are finished your vacation, and offering a wide selection of models and accessories (some have cup holders, baskets, canopies, etc.).  You will find that the rental fees to do it through these outside companies can be a little less expensive,  I have rented from a couple of different locations for my dad, who was a double amputee, and service varies.  We liked Walker Mobility and Scootarama.  Just make sure if you rent from someone other than Walt Disney World that your scooter will fit on the park transportation options!

Julia, thank your husband and your family for his dedicated service to our country, and for the sacrifices you all have made on our behalf.  We are so grateful to our servicemen and women, and to their families, for the things you have done to keep our nation secure.

    Have a magical vacation!
