My husband and I are taking our 6year old son on his first trip to WDW this year. We booked for the 1st week in October. I was wondering how the weather and crowds are during this time?

    Hi Stephanie:

Disney World is less crowded when schools are in session. Since most schools are in session during the first week of October, and there are no early October major school Holidays that I know of, October should be relatively light on crowds and a great time to head to Walt Disney World.  Temperatures in Orlando during early October tend to average in the high 70's or early 80's during the day and can fall to the high 60's at night, but can get colder so make sure to bring layers of clothing in case of sudden or unexpected temperature changes.  Hurricane season, which starts in the summer, tends to taper off by October.  So while you may experience a little rain, it hopefully won't be severe.

Since it's a first visit, remember to check in at City Hall at the Magic Kingdom, or at guest relations at other parks, and pick up "first-visit" buttons. Many Cast Members will go out of their way to greet your son to make the visit more memorable.

    Enjoy your vacation.
