Hi! My husband & I will be taking our 3 year old son to his first trip to Disneyworld this Oct. We are planning on staying at the POFQ. I am wondering if there is a particular area I should request. My son is a light sleeper.

Hi Brandie! Great resort choice! Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ) is an absolute gem in the moderately priced resort category. Featuring the exceptionally themed pool Doubloon Lagoon, POFQ consists of seven three-story guest-room buildings adjacent to the Sassagoula River. Most guest-rooms in POFQ are within easy walking distance of the resort's main facilities. However, Buildings 2 & 5 are the closest to Doubloon Lagoon, making it an ideal location for families traveling with children. For a quiet room in these two buildings, ask for the second or third floor. Take a look at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter map. Buildings 1, 6, and 7 are a moderate walk from the resort's main facilities. Consider upgrading from a Standard Room to a Water View. However, be very specific to request a River View Room. The best views are of the pristine river bank opposite the Sassagoula River. I would recommend Building 5 room blocks 5117-5122, 5217-5222, or 5317-5322. If you want a quieter area, and don't mind a longer walk to the resort's main facilities, then I would suggest Building 7 room blocks 7141-7148, 7241-7248, or 7341-7348. You may ask for a River View Room in any of these room blocks, but there is no guarantee your request will be met. To cover all the bases, call Resort Reservations at (407) 939-7429, contact the resort directly at (407) 934-5000, and fax your request to (407) 934-5353. Cast Members will try to accommodate you based on the resort's occupancy, and other factors, at the time of your arrival. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Have a memorable stay at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter!
