My husband & I are taking my 60 year old cousin & her husband for the first time to WDW. She has waited her whole life to see Mickey & Friends. 5 days 4 nights, we need an itinerary, which resort-Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs? Help us ple

    Hi, Leni!

How exciting to be taking your cousin and her husband for their very first trip to Walt Disney World! They are going to be so much fun to travel with!

I would choose Coronado Springs.  This lovely resort has some nice amenities you will not find at Caribbean Beach like a Health Club, Spa, and lounges.  The Pepper Market, while considered quick service, offers great choices and I think it is fun browsing all the different grills to see what's cooking!  I also love the cozy beds at this resort. It almost has a Deluxe feel at that great Moderate price.

Plan to visit each of the 4 theme parks.  Make sure to reserve some Advance Dining Reservations. Since this is their first trip, you really should treat them to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary.  They will get such a kick out of meeting Mickey and all his pals at this fun buffet.  You might also want to book Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge, and for lunch in Epcot, book Chefs de France.  Ask for a window seat where you can enjoy the street performers.

In Hollywood Studios, book a Fantasmic Dining Package where you can dine in one of 3 restaurants (I would choose Mama Melrose's) then you get VIP Seating for Fantasmic that evening - how fun will that
be?!  Another fun place they will really enjoy is the 50's Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios.  Try to make it there if you can.  It has a retro theme that they will love.

Make sure you take a camera to capture all the magic, and have them stop by Guest Services at any park to pick up a "First Visit" button.  If you want to add to the magic, perhaps you can send them a special delivery from  They have some very nice gifts to welcome your family to Disney World.

I really hope all of you have a great time.  Please let me know if you need more specific recommendations or help planning.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
