My husband and I are taking our son who is turning 5 on Jul 21, 2012 and our 2 year old daughter to WDW and staying for 6N/7Ds at the Caribbean Resort. What kind of fun things will he be able to do/experience as part of his birthday?

    Hi, Kerstin!

Happy early birthday to DS! With so many options available, I'll just offer a few of my favorites for a child of five.

Make sure to stop by Guest Relations at any Park or at your Resort front desk and pick up a complimentary "Happy Birthday" button for him to wear (he can do so all vacation!). Everyone in your traveling party can also get an "I'm Celebrating" button, which can be personalized with DS's name and age. Keep the buttons on; you never know what pixie dust might be sprinkled on you!

Think of his excitement when he sees his Resort room decked out just for his birthday! A quick call to the Disney Dream Makers at (407) WDW-GIFT, and you'll be planning the surprise of a young life!

Character dining is always a hit with the little ones, especially on a birthday! Try to grab a reservation at one of the many character dining meals throughout the Resort by calling (407) WDW-DINE, and make sure to tell the Cast Member who assists you that you have a birthday in your party. You can also call 24 hours in advance of a meal and have a custom cake delivered to your table.

You might also want to consider the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage. You'll have breathtaking seating for Wishes and the Electric Water Pageant, a hysterical Pirate host, delicious refreshments, and some surprise character interactions along the way. Call (407) WDW-PLAY to book this one; as with dining reservations, you may reserve a spot on a Specialty Cruise 180 days before your arrival.

    See you later, celebrator!
