My husband and I are taking the plunge and taking our 4 year old--he'll be 5 by the trip--son to Disney in June 2015. We are a bit overwhelmed with where to start and how to get good tips on managing our time and being budget conscious. Any ideas?

    Hi Catherine,

For a first trip to Walt Disney World, there is a lot to consider. We on the Disney Parks Moms Panel are here to help you plan a magical vacation!

I suggest that you start by ordering the Walt Disney World planning DVD. This DVD is available for free, and has great information about resorts, theme parks, water parks, and so much more at Walt Disney World. By watching this, you can start to get some ideas about the resort hotels that will appeal to your family, as well as which attractions are interesting to you.

Since you mention that you are budget-conscious, you might want to consider staying at a Walt Disney World Value Resort hotel. These are typically the least expensive of the options at Walt Disney World, and they include great privileges afforded to Walt Disney World Resort guests, including access to Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours are a great way to make the most of your time as they allow Walt Disney World resort hotel guests extra time to experience attractions at one theme park each day.

Finally, I recommend that if you set up an account at My Disney Experience. You will be able to use this account to manage your Walt Disney World resort and dining plans, and to manage Disney FastPass+ selections. With Disney FastPass+ service, you will be able to choose times to visit some attractions before your visit - a definite time-saver!

I hope that this helps you to get started with your planning, Catherine. Let us know if you have more questions!
