My husband and I will be taking our kids (8 and 4) to Disney for the first time this Spring, and bringing both of our moms along. The AKL looks great, but sounds like it's not convenient. Polynesian seems to be best bet, but want any advice?

Hi Pam - on my last two visits with my family, I visited Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Polynesian.  They are very different resorts, so your decision should be based on personal preference.

As you've mentioned, the Polynesian is extremely convenient.  Because of it's proximity to the Ticket and Transportation Center, I feel it's the most convenient resort at Walt Disney World.  In addition, the rooms are pretty large - definitely bigger than those at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is definitely less convenient, as you'll need to take buses to each of the parks.  However, the resort itself is much newer, and so quaint and cozy.  I absolutely love the atmosphere there.  The grounds are beautiful, and my kids just loved watching the animals right from our resort deck.  The restaurants are also excellent - especially Boma.  Of course, Animal Kingdom Lodge is also less expensive, so you can save some money to use on other things during your vacation.

Personally, I'd probably save the money and stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but if you really value the convenience, you can't beat the Polynesian.

    Have a great vacation!
